Sixth-form Spanish: syntax, literature and commentary

The Spanish exam in university entrance has two parts that are prepared very differently: syntactic analysis, which is technique and improves with repetition, and text commentary, where you identify the text type, its structure and literary devices and explain what they do. Both are lost for the same reason: misidentifying what is in front of you.

This page practises exactly that identification. In Analiza la Frase you mark subject, predicate and complements on new sentences every time; the figures of speech exam asks you to spot them in lines by Garcilaso, Góngora or Bécquer; and the text types exam revises genres, language functions, coherence and cohesion, which are the vocabulary of a commentary.
