Primary-school Spanish teaches two things that are practised very differently: writing without spelling mistakes, and recognising how words work. For spelling, what helps is seeing many words and deciding quickly: where the accent goes, whether it is b or v, what is wrong in this text. For grammar, what helps is pointing: this is a noun, this is a verb, this is the subject.
