✖️ Where two functions cross

Two lines, or a line and a parabola: where they cross, by setting both equations equal and solving.

Understood: 2x + 3 · x^2 − 4x + 3 · x² · (x − 1)(x + 2) · 0.5x · 1/x · sqrt(x)

Examples:
y = 2x + 3y = −x + 6

  • Crossing point:(1, 5)

Crossing point

  1. Where they cross, both give the same y. Set them equal: 2x + 3 = −x + 6
  2. Move everything to one side:
  3. 3x − 3 = 0
  4. 3x = 3
  5. x = 3 / 3 = 1
  6. Substitute x = 1 into y = 2x + 3: y = 5
