Needs, wants or savings, the 50/30/20 rule and simple interest
Budget: each expense to its box. A need is what you cannot stop paying (rent, electricity, food); a want is what you enjoy but could cut (cinema, eating out); savings are what you set aside. The 50/30/20 rule splits a salary: half for needs, 30% for wants and 20% for savings.
Sums: type the final amount, in whole euros. With simple interest you earn the same each year; with compound interest the interest earns interest too, and over the years the difference is huge. Inflation works the same way in reverse: prices rise on top of earlier rises.
Also: order savings plans from most to least money and, on hard, work out how many payments it takes to clear a credit card that charges interest each month.
