A Game for Rounding to the Nearest Ten, Hundred and Thousand
A maths game to round while understanding what it means: the number appears on a number line, between its two round neighbours (for example 3847 between 3800 and 3900), and you tap the nearer one. Because you can see the position on the line, rounding stops being a memorised rule and becomes something you understand: which one is it closer to? You practise to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand and also with decimals.

Seeing the number between its two round neighbours makes clear what you are doing: finding the nearest one. That mental picture is what prevents rounding at random or the wrong way.
The midpoint mark on the line is exactly the boundary of the 5: above it you round up, below it you round down. The pupil discovers why 5 rounds up instead of just memorising it.
Ten, hundred, thousand and decimals use exactly the same mechanic. Rounding 3847 to the hundred or 3.47 to the tenth is the same problem, and practising them together makes that clear.
"It asks you to round 3847 to the nearest hundred. On the line, 3847 sits between 3800 and 3900, closer to 3800. The pupil taps 3800. If they hesitate, the position on the line —and the midpoint mark at 3850— give the answer."

Find the digit of the place you are rounding to (the ten, the hundred…).
Look at the next digit: that is the one that decides.
If it is 5 or more, add one to that digit; if less, leave it as it is.
Put zeros in all the digits to its right.
