A language game to stop placing Spanish accents by ear: a word appears WITHOUT its accent, split into syllables, and you do two things in a row. First tap the syllable where the stress falls, then decide whether that means it takes an accent. The order is not arbitrary: the accent rule cannot be applied without first knowing where the stress falls, and that is exactly the step almost everyone skips.

It separates the two decisions

An exercise like "does árbol take an accent?" can be answered by ear with no rule at all. Here you must point at the stressed syllable first, so a student cannot hide that they are unable to locate it — which is where they actually get stuck.

The rule, not the list

Every word comes with its explanation: why it is aguda, llana or esdrújula, and what the rule says for that case. With repetition, students stop recalling individual words and start applying the same reasoning to any new one.

Hiatus, flagged as such

Words like día, país or baúl take an accent because they break a diphthong, not because of the aguda/llana rule. They come up mixed in and the explanation says so, instead of leaving the student thinking the rule is broken.

💡 Practical Example

"Up comes "murcielago", split into mur · cie · la · go. The student taps "cie", where the stress falls, and answers that yes, it takes an accent. Both right — and they read that with the stress on the third-to-last syllable it is esdrújula, and every esdrújula takes an accent without exception: murciélago."
