Planet Order & Distance Game
A geology game to learn the solar system without memorising a list of numbers: you drag a slider along a bar that represents the distance to the Sun and launch the probe where you think the requested planet is. No clock, no reflexes — the challenge is knowing, not being fast. The more centred the launch, the more points, and every attempt, right or wrong, teaches a real fact about that planet.

Instead of chanting "Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars…" from memory, every round forces you to place one specific planet on the bar. The order sticks because it was used, not repeated.
The bar does not split the 8 planets evenly: the 4 rocky ones are squeezed together at the start and the gas giants are spread far apart, just like in reality. Playing, you notice Mercury and Venus sit much closer to each other than Saturn and Neptune do.
Whether you hit or miss, every round teaches a concrete fact about the planet: the largest volcano in the solar system is on Mars, Saturn would float in water, Neptune has the fastest winds. Verifiable facts, not loose trivia.
"It's time to launch the probe to Jupiter. The row above marks it as the 5th planet from the Sun; the player waits for the probe, swinging along the bar, to reach that zone and launches. Landing near the centre gives "Perfect orbit!" and 100 points plus the streak bonus; landing in Mars' or Saturn's stretch costs a life and teaches where Jupiter actually sits."

Draw a straight line and mark the Sun at one end.
Write the 8 planets in a separate list, unordered.
Place each one on the line based on whether you think it is closer or farther than the last.
Check the real order (Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune) and correct it.

Walk a proportional distance for each planet (say, one step = Mercury, two = Venus…) to physically feel how the gap between planets grows.
Each day of the week, find one new fact about a different planet and write it down. After 8 days you have your own solar system encyclopaedia.
After playing, revise with the quiz: rotation and revolution, types of celestial bodies and the most common mix-ups at each level.
