Latitude, Longitude & Country Location Game
A geography game to learn to read real coordinates: you move two sliders, one for latitude and one for longitude, until you mark on the map where you think the requested country is, and confirm once you're sure. No clock, no reflexes — the challenge is reasoning with the map, not being fast. The closer in real kilometres, the more points, and every country reveals its capital and a fact on confirming.

Most geography games ask you to point at a country on its silhouette. Here the player handles the two numbers that actually locate it on the globe, with a live degree readout and N/S/E/W at all times.
Success is not binary: it is measured in kilometres using the real formula for distance between two points on Earth. Getting the region right already scores; getting the country right scores more.
Playing, it clicks fast that the sign of latitude separates north from south and the sign of longitude separates east from west — the basis for reading any map with coordinates.
"It's time to place Argentina. The player knows it's in South America, southern hemisphere: they move latitude to about 35° S and longitude to about 60° W, and confirm. The map reveals Buenos Aires close by — "Close — good region" and points are scored, along with the capital and a country fact."
Prefer to learn without screens? Try this analogue version:
Draw a rectangle and mark the equator (latitude 0°) and the Greenwich meridian (longitude 0°) crossing at the centre.
Mark the four quadrants: north-east, north-west, south-east, south-west.
For a country you know, first decide which quadrant it falls in, then refine the number.
Check against an atlas or a real globe and correct your estimate.
