"The sentence “The big dog runs in the park” appears and the predicate is asked: the student selects “runs in the park” and checks. Another round asks for the adjectives and they mark “big”."

Write a simple sentence on a sheet.
Underline the subject (who it is about) in one colour and the predicate (what is said) in another.
Circle the verb: it is the head of the predicate and agrees with the subject.
Mark the other word classes (articles, adjectives, objects) with different symbols.
